Position: Associate Veterinarian at Great Lakes Equine

At Pet Vet Care Centers, our mission is to improve the lives of animals and people — providing exceptional and compassionate care at every stage — for all the moments that matter.

Because life is better with pets.

We deliver the Ultimate Care Experience — every pet, every client, every time. That starts with a Culture of Care that supports our team members as much as the pets and clients we serve.

With more than 420 locally led hospitals and over 11,000 team members nationwide
, we offer:

  • Local autonomy with national support
  • Career mobility and development opportunities
  • A collaborative, inclusive environment where your wellbeing comes first

You care for pets. We care for you.

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Equine Veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing high-quality veterinary care and possess excellent communication skills to build lasting relationships with our clients. You will work alongside a team of experienced veterinarians, technicians, and support staff and will work closely with the Hospital Manager and Regional Manager.

Great Lakes Equine is a five doctor, equine-exclusive practice located in Hortonville, Wisconsin - just outside Green Bay. We are a true general practice and encourage our veterinarians to develop expertise in their own individual areas of interest. Currently we have DVMs who focus on podiatry, diagnostic imaging, lameness, and integrative therapies such as acupuncture and VSMT, and we welcome additions to these.

Externships for students interested in a 2026 internship are also available!

Our goal is to provide gold standard medicine with an emphasis on sports medicine and wellness care. We pride ourselves on having a clinic culture where all of our team members feel valued and respected. Our large and varied caseload (averaging 25-50 patients per week per veterinarian) gives us the opportunity to provide the highest quality of medicine to a dedicated group of patients and clients.

Our top-of-the-line facilities allow us to utilize progressive, evidence-based techniques, including IRAP, PRP, Pro Stride, Shockwave, etc. both in the field and on‑site in our 14 stall hospital with 2 designated treatment rooms, knockdown stall (surgical suite) onsite laboratory and indoor arena. Our practice is primarily ambulatory with about an 80/20 ambulatory/haul‑in split.

What can our veterinarians expect?

  • Five day work week (M‑Fri)
  • On call rotation consisting of approximately one night per week and one weekend per month
  • AAEP/AVMA dues reimbursement, continuing education allowance, an ambulatory vehicle, and work phone
  • Weekly rounds, monthly staff meetings, and an annual team‑building event to promote a positive, collaborative work environment
  • Community outreach with local 4H, Horse and Pony Clubs
  • Paid relocation assistance if needed
  • Negotiable signing and retention bonuses
