Our Meat Department is central to providing high-quality, fresh meat products to our guests, helping them create memorable meals for any occasion. As a Meat Cutter, you will play a vital role in ensuring our meat offerings are prepared to perfection and meet the highest standards of quality.

Job Description

What You'll Do
:

  • Expert Meat Cutting
    :
    Prepare all non-case ready meat products, including cutting, grinding, wrapping, and trimming, according to established standards.
  • Butchery Leadership
    :
    Provide expertise and leadership on the sales floor, ensuring safety and sanitation guidelines are followed, and inventory is effectively managed within the store.
  • Culinary Knowledge
    :
    Apply knowledge of different cuts of meat and cooking techniques to assist guests and ensure the best product offerings.
  • Quality and Quantity Standards
    :
    Maintain and meet quality and quantity standards by filling all service and self-service cases (fresh, frozen, and processed).
  • Team Support
    :
    Support teammates and contribute positively to the Meat Department culture.
  • Drive Sales
    :
    Increase sales by focusing on details and ensuring products are visually appealing.
  • Minimize Waste
    :
    Reduce shrink by following production lists, accurate trim standards, and minimizing waste.
  • Product Management
    :
    Ensure meat products are properly packaged, labeled, and stored according to policies and procedures.
  • Training
    :
    Assist in training Utility team members in grinding, sausage making, service-counter cutting, special orders, wrapping, and filling products.
  • Cleanliness and Safety
    :
    Maintain cleanliness of the department and the equipment, lead by example.
  • Guest Services
    :
    Provide excellent service at the meat counter and assist guests with their needs.
  • Special Orders
    :
    Collect and fulfill special orders in a timely manner.
  • Teamwork
    :
    Perform other duties as needed to support the team.
  • Honor Commitments
    :
    Regular, timely attendance and adequate notice to arrange replacements for occasional absences.

What We're Looking For
:
To succeed as a Festival Foods Meat Cutter, you should have:

  • Experience
    :
    Proven experience as a butcher or in meat cutting within grocery, retail, or meat production settings.
  • Customer Focus
    :
    Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with guests and staff.
  • Communication Skills
    :
    Good oral and written communication.
  • Product Knowledge
    :
    Knowledge of perishable foods, particularly meat.
  • Age Requirement
    :
    Must be over 18.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
:

  • Stand for long periods; bend, stoop, and kneel regularly
  • Lifting up to 60 pounds on an occasional basis
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures

Work Schedule
:
This position can be part-time or full-time. Schedule may include mornings, afternoons, weekends, and holidays, with some evenings or overnight flexibility.
