Utility Locator – USIC

Join USIC, America’s leader in underground utility damage prevention, as a Utility Locator. The role involves independent field work on locating and marking utilities for telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer systems. The position is full‑time, on a company vehicle, with a competitive hourly rate and a comprehensive benefits package.

As part of the USIC team, you will conduct accuracy‑driven utility locating using advanced ticket and claims management systems. This includes marking, documenting, and photographing each locate, working the days following holidays or weekends, and being available for overtime, weekend, and night on‑call shifts as needed.

$21.00 per hour.

• Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities—including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
• Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area, accurately mark the location, complete necessary documentation, and photograph each locate.

• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Computer proficiency and ability to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints.
• Availability to work overtime, weekends, and on‑call shifts as required.
• Ability to pass a drug screen (safety‑sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Capacity to work in confined spaces; walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Good communication skills with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
