Clay County Sheriff's Office - Human Resources Specialist
Responsible for receiving, processing, and managing time‑life critical emergency, non‑emergency, and administrative calls for service; operating the 911 console; receiving, routing and dispersing telephone calls/messages; and providing assistance to the public/agency employees/other county personnel. Incumbent must dispatch calls for service; and notify agencies of robberies and priority events. Duties also include completing assignments/special projects, as directed; completing, updating, submitting required reports/documents/forms;
and maintaining control of and follow up on incoming correspondence/action documents.
- Receiving, analyzing & prioritizing 911 calls as well as non‑emergent phone calls for Police, Fire, and EMS service and transferring them to the appropriate agency.
- Effectively utilizing a computer‑aided dispatch (CAD) system to prioritize calls, record incident details and identify the status and location of responders in the field.
- Distributing calls for service for the Deputy Sheriff units according to guidelines.
- Always monitor radio traffic for the Sheriff’s Office and know when additional steps are needed for officer safety/public safety.
- Access a secure, nationwide database to look up confidential records for responders, including driver and vehicle registration statuses and warrants.
- Knowledge of TDD, TTY, and multiphone line systems.
- Deliver clear and direct lifesaving instructions to citizens on 9‑1‑1 emergency lines and administrative lines.
- If a caller is unable to state their location, PST must have the knowledge to access multiple systems including Rapid
SOS, RMS, CAD history, LINX, 9‑1‑1 screen coordinates, and Google maps. - Connect conference calls involving two or more parties to render timely emergency assistance and initiate emergency callbacks to obtain additional information or to follow up on disconnected calls.
- Maintain records and reports including shift reports and operational logs for FIN, Visitor Log, and Alert Clay County.
- Knowledge of the paging system and how to utilize it with governing policy and procedures.
- Knowledge of policy and procedures regarding NCIC (National Crime Information System)/FCIC (Florida Crime Information System) and usage of programs to run wanted checks, criminal histories, tags, vehicles, guns, and missing persons.
- Knowledge of FAA (Federal Air Authority) and when/how to contact them for light outages.
- CSX notifications of railroad accidents and problems with equipment.
- PSTs must have knowledge of the geographical area of Clay County and surrounding counties.
- Maintains a proper working knowledge of all emergency procedures related to their post including the physical location and proper use of all emergency equipment if applicable and will act immediately and in accordance with agency policies/procedures in the event of an emergency.
- Attends shift briefings or staff meetings as required/directed, recording all pertinent information and directives, and providing superiors and colleagues with job/shift related information.
- Identifies situations which present special or unusual problems and promptly contacts the designated supervisor for assistance as necessary and in accordance with agency policies/procedures.
- Receives and correctly processes or forwards all wrecker requests and the appropriate corresponding information and maintains the wrecker files in accordance with agency policies.
- Communicates with other law enforcement agencies and in‑house personnel to ensure proper coordination of multi‑agency efforts, relaying and securing information as requested, maintaining constant contact with established point‑to‑point frequencies and performing any other services as required.
- Tracks, monitors, and documents all deputies and other designated personnel’s activities as required during their tour of duty in accordance with agency policies.
- Operates two‑way radios according to agency policy and applicable standards to provide and maintain effective communications with agency personnel.
