JOB SUMMARY
The NASA SES III contract provides services to include the design, development, implementation, and integration of science data processing applications and technology; supports instrument, spacecraft, and mission development.
PROJECT OVERVIEWThe TOTAL AND SPECTRAL SOLAR IRRADIANCE SENSOR-2 (TSIS-2) mission is a Category 3 project, Payload Risk Classification D (Cat 3/Class
D) free-flyer mission to provide a continuation of the solar energy monitoring provided by the TSIS-1 instruments hosted on the International Space Station (ISS). TSIS-2 will be operated on a free-flying observatory with a baseline 3-year mission duration. The instrument suite mounted on a General Atomics - Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) spacecraft bus provides spacecraft pointing, power, and command and data handling.
DUTIES
- Work closely with TSIS-2 Mission Systems Engineer (MSE) to support the ground element management of TSIS-2 mission.
- Interface with GA-EMS technical personnel responsible for ground system architecture, ground software, and operational elements.
- Participate and/or lead in technical discussions involving TSIS-2 ground elements with project team and vendors.
- Support all TSIS-2 project and Ground Systems milestone reviews.
- Knowledge and familiarity of TSIS-2 mission specific ground system architecture and requirements.
- Knowledge and familiarity of GA-EMS ground system architecture, personnel and technical elements.
- Experience with integration, testing, and operation of ground systems and software.
- Knowledge of flight operations best practices for timeline development and use of associated tools.
- Potential travel could be required.
20+ years of professional Project and Ground Systems experience.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONBS/MS degree or equivalent experience in computer sciences, computer engineering, or software engineering.
SECURITY CLEARANCEUS Citizenship required, Section 508 (Agency Standards) applicable. Ability to obtain required National Agency Check (NAC) clearance.
LOCATIONThis position is full time and will be expected to be onsite at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.
