The Construction Engineer works for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) in the Greenfield District, overseeing construction projects and managing construction technicians and surveyors. The role involves coordinating materials testing, supervising contractor compliance with safety standards, maintaining project records, and preparing documentation for project closure. This position may include supervisory responsibilities and requires coordination with local officials and property owners throughout the construction process.
Keyqualifications:
- Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel
- Registered Professional Engineer license in Indiana (or EIT/FE certification actively pursuing PE licensure)
- Four-year engineering degree plus one year of professional experience in civil engineering, transportation, or related field
- Knowledge of construction material sampling, testing standards, and AASHTO/ASTM specifications
- Ability to read and interpret highway and bridge plans and identify errors
- Demonstrated ability to delegate work, manage workflow, and develop employee skillsets
