Housekeeper / Room Attendant
Job Summary: To provide the medical staff, nursing services, support staff, patients and customers with an adequate supply of clean/functional linen in a timely manner, and maintain a visibly clean and sanitized physical environment.
Qualifications- Daily cleaning of patient rooms, discharge rooms, exam rooms and utility areas.
- Performs trash and soiled linen removal and distribution of clean linens through the hospital.
- Cleaning of corridors, stairways and other areas.
- Sets up meeting rooms for various events.

- Sets up meeting rooms for various events and distributes clean linen throughout the hospital.
- Must be able to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Must enjoy working with others and serving customers.
- Must be able to work around and clean up blood and body fluid spills.
- Must be able, after training, to demonstrate correct cleaning procedures and use of chemicals, supplies and equipment.
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Corporate Compliance, Confidentiality, Infection Control Education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies, scope of practice, and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.
Work ConditionsPhysical/Mental Demands:
- Floor to cart lifting up to 35 lbs. for storeroom supplies (e.g., cases of plastic trash liners).
- Lifting floor to waist 35 lbs. including trash and linen removal; carry up to 125 ft.
- Pushing and pulling wheeled carts requiring a force of up to 200 lbs. over smooth surface, carpet and ramps within the building.
- Squatting, bending at waist, twisting to reach under items for cleaning.
- Standing or walking 65% of the work shift.
- Standing up to two thirds of the day and walking more than one third of the day.
- Uninterrupted lifting tasks lasting up to 10 minutes in duration.
- Up/down one flight of stairs as needed throughout hospital.
Cleaning carts, vacuums, battery operated floor scrubbers, and push carts. Personal Protective Equipment: face masks, goggles, rubber gloves, protective aprons, and any required per policy and procedure. Intermittent exposure to slippery floors.
Environmental ConditionsOccasionally works around blood and body fluids. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, compounds, and fumes/gases possible. Medium dust conditions occasionally.
