A Custom Machine Builder for our Custom Automation facility will be responsible for general fabrication and assembly of material handling equipment projects. The main emphasis for this position is assembly; other duties may include fabrication, welding, painting of projects, as well as general repair and maintenance of Bastian Solutions shop equipment as needed.

• Follow QMS as applicable and corporate level policies.
• Assemble machines by interpreting engineering assembly prints.
• Assemble equipment from fabricated parts, including weldments.
• Set up and operate saws, shear, press brake, punches and calibrate measuring devices; utilize hand tools for fabrication tasks.
• Produce high‑quality assemblies with a low rejection rate.
• Execute required tasks effectively and demonstrate craftsmanship in all aspects of the job.
• Take direction and learn under immediate Team Leader.
• Strive for improvement through training opportunities.
• Emphasize assembly of our equipment, including minor electrical wiring.
• Maintain a team‑focused mentality necessary to perform this role.

• Strong mechanical aptitude (experience with power/hand tools, understanding mechanics of industrial equipment, assembly/disassembly, etc.).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and develop finished product from these plans.
• Relevant fabrication shop experience.
• Must obtain a High School or General Education Diploma at minimum.
• General knowledge of mechanical fasteners and their specific functions.
• General knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulic mechanical systems.
• Ability to raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position‑to‑position; tasks require substantial use of upper extremities.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make discriminations in sound.
• Exert between 10 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
