Machine Builder; 3rd shift

Job Summary

A Custom Machine Builder for our Custom Automation facility will be responsible for general fabrication and assembly of material handling equipment projects. The main emphasis for this position is assembly, with other duties including fabrication, welding and painting of projects, as well as general repair and maintenance of Bastian Solutions shop equipment as needed.

• Follow QMS as applicable and corporate level policies.
• Ability to assemble machines from interpreting engineering assembly prints.
• Assemble equipment from fabricated parts, including weldments.
• Set up and operate saws, shears, press brakes, punches, and calibrate measuring devices; utilize hand tools for fabrication tasks.
• Produce high‑quality assemblies with a low rejection rate.
• Execute required tasks effectively and demonstrate craftsmanship in all aspects of the job.
• Take direction and learn under immediate Team Leader.
• Strive for improvement through training opportunities.
• Emphasis on assembly of equipment, including minor electrical wiring.
• Team‑focused mentality is necessary to perform this role.

• Strong mechanical aptitude (experience with power/hand tools, understanding mechanics of industrial equipment, assembly/disassembly, etc.).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and develop finished products from these plans.
• Relevant fabrication shop experience.
• High School or General Education Diploma at minimum.
• General knowledge of mechanical fasteners and their specific functions.
• General knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulic mechanical systems.
• Experience in lifting objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally, requiring substantial use of upper extremities.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.
• Ability to exert between 10 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
