CSO is seeking a Therapeutic Mentor/Therapeutic Training and Support Specialist for our Family Support Services team. The primary mission is to provide community‑based direct care services that alleviate youth mental health issues and strengthen family structures.
Therapeutic Mentoring involves structured, one‑to‑one, strength‑based support between a therapeutic mentor and a youth. The mentor coaches the youth on daily living, social and communication skills, problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and participation in recreational and social activities. This service supports the youth’s progress in a behavioral health treatment plan and enables the mentor to supervise and discuss effective peer interaction strategies.
The Therapeutic Mentoring Provider engages the youth in community activities such as:
- Provision of anticipatory guidance
- Teaching of alternative strategies
- Role playing
- Behavioral rehearsal
- Skill acquisition in the community
- Practicing skills in the community
- Exposure to social situations for higher‑level practice
- Enhancing conflict resolution skills
- Developing communication skills
- Interventions aligned to the youth’s treatment goals, including:
- Social activities
- Recreational activities
- Athletic activities
- Artistic or creative activities
- Educational or vocational activities
- Activities of daily living in the community (e.g., using public transport, applying for a job)
Therapeutic Training and Support (TT&S) is part of the In‑Home Therapy team. A qualified paraprofessional works under clinician supervision to implement treatment plans, teaching youths to manage emotional responses and assisting families with emotional and mental health needs.
Starting Salary: $38,000‑$44,000/year
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a human services field plus two years of experience working with children
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
