Production Manager
Reports to and works with the Production Manager; approximately 40 hours per week.
Real Pickles is a worker-owned co‑operative in Greenfield, MA, producing organic fermented vegetables from Northeast‑grown produce. Our mission is to promote human and ecological health by providing people with delicious, nourishing food and by working toward a regional, organic food system in the Northeast. We work to effect positive change for both people and the planet, from our commitment to purchase our vegetables exclusively from regional farms to our solar‑powered and energy‑efficient facility.
Founded in 2001, Real Pickles has contributed to the modern resurgence of traditional fermented vegetables in the American diet and continues to be an industry leader in fermented foods. As a co‑operative, each worker has the opportunity to become an owner of the business and participate in shaping its future. - Experience supervising and training a team of more than 5 people
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Able to do physically demanding and repetitive work for a full 8-hour shift
- Ability to manage several tasks at once and to effectively problem solve
- Solution seeking and adaptable to change
- Strong attention to detail
- Oversee day-to-day operations in the kitchen
- Create and implement production goals with the Production Manager
- Supervise and train Production Assistants and Assistant Kitchen Supervisors, creating an environment of safety and respect
- Ensure that production staff remain safe, injury‑free, and are properly trained in any tasks they perform
- Ensure food safety standards and good manufacturing processes are followed
- Ensure that all product sold is safe and of the highest quality
- Ensure that production data is tracked and recorded accurately
- Work with Production Manager on systems improvement and mechanization projects
- Participate in all aspects of production, including preparing fresh vegetables for fermentation and packaging finished product
- $23/hour
- Paid time off benefit, SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with 3% company match, employer‑sponsored health insurance plan available
- Eligibility after one year to become a worker‑owner in our co‑op
