Children's Wisconsin has an opening for a Nurse Clinician in our Orthopedics Clinic focused on neuromuscular conditions and multidisciplinary clinics. The position involves 80% direct patient care and 20% triage, with 4 days in clinic and 1 day of indirect patient care per week.

Greenfield Clinic; secondary location: main campus

20 hours per week

The Ambulatory Nurse Clinician promotes optimal wellness by managing acute illness, chronic disease, and disability across the continuum of care. Utilizing critical thinking and the nursing process, the clinician provides patient and caregiver education, supports and teaches, and coordinates care via inter‑professional collaboration. The role includes face‑to‑face or electronic interactions, continuity of care, and partnership with families.

• Accountable for and coordinate delivery of care within the practice and across health care settings to maintain continuity of care and create a compassionate therapeutic environment.
• Use clinical reasoning to develop, implement and evaluate a collaborative plan of care that addresses patient and caregiver needs, achieving optimal outcomes and reducing risk.
• Communicate, educate and engage patients, caregivers and providers within an inter‑professional approach to achieve shared goals and optimal clinical outcomes.
• Employ educational strategies that address learning needs, abilities, readiness, cultural and spiritual preferences, language, and barriers to learning.
• Communicate effectively using health literacy strategies and various formats, tools, approaches and technologies.
• Contribute to the development and application of clinical practice guidelines, policies and procedures via evidence‑based continuous quality improvement.
• Advocate from the perspective of patient/caregiver, addressing complex ethical issues and working with the interdisciplinary team to identify and resolve inequities in care.
• Provide telehealth practices, including telephone triage and other telecommunications technologies, to remove time and distance barriers.

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (required)
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred)
• 2+ years licensed nursing experience (required)
• 2+ years pediatric nursing experience (preferred)
• Experience managing patients with chronic and complex family and health needs (preferred)

• Proficient pediatric assessment skills with developmental approaches for all ages.
• Ability to work with patients who have intellectual and physical disabilities appropriately.
• Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records.
• Independent judgment and analytical ability to problem‑solve, make decisions, and formulate reports.
• Effective and collaborative interpersonal and communication skills for discussing sensitive issues.
• Ability to represent the organization professionally and promote a positive image.
• Expertise in active listening and therapeutic communication.
• Critical reasoning and astute clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care.

• BLS – Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council)
• Registered Nurse (30) – State of Wisconsin licence
