Mechanical Engineer (Factory Maintenance)

Role Purpose

To provide expert mechanical maintenance support across a high-volume production facility, ensuring machinery reliability, minimising downtime, and contributing to ongoing engineering improvements. This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, precision work, and being actively involved in the day-to-day running of a busy manufacturing site.

Core Responsibilities

• Conduct planned, reactive, and preventative maintenance on a wide range of mechanical equipment
• Diagnose mechanical faults quickly and effectively, implementing robust long-term solutions
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, contributing engineering insight to process optimisation
• Maintain and repair steam systems, compressors, pumps, valves, conveyors, and weighing systems
• Produce, modify, and repair components using workshop machinery and fabrication tools
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory and internal standards
• Collaborate with production teams to reduce downtime and enhance operational performance
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to engineering planning
