We have a fantastic opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to join our Servicing and Heat Supply Scotland team to undertake general maintenance, installation, commissioning, and repair works on biomass heating systems, other heating plant and associated equipment.
Responsibilities- Undertaking planned maintenance works in a thorough manner, following service task schedules where available.
- Undertaking reactive maintenance/call-outs and the swift and effective resolution of heating faults.
- Promptly and comprehensively completing the appropriate planned and reactive maintenance reports in the required format and using the online system, providing sufficient feedback and information that can be presented to the client.
- Taking and logging photographs to the report, including before and after photos for planned services and photos identifying any issues relating to reactive maintenance visits.
- Identifying any parts which may require replacement and including as much detail as possible in the report to enable parts to be ordered.
- Endeavouring to contact the client during the planned or reactive maintenance visit, updating on works undertaken, engaging the client, and providing helpful and friendly feedback.
- Escalating any serious issues or Health and Safety/compliance concerns to the Service Manager.
- Assisting the Service Manager with any technical queries and support.
- Undertaking all tasks according to Health and Safety requirements and wearing correct PPE. Completing risk assessments and method statements for specific tasks as required.
- Undertaking installation, surveying and repair works as required.
- A mechanical, electrical or electronic background.
- An engineering qualification (C&G, HNC, NVQ or similar).
- Full clean driving licence.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good team worker.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures and statutory compliance.
- Proficient with paperwork and good IT skills; for completion of service reports, H&S reports, timesheets.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Flexible approach, with the willingness to undertake varied tasks and travel to different sites.
- Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience of biomass systems.
- Proven experience of working on call.

- Mainly situated in and around the Central Belt; travel throughout Scotland/UK may be required.
- Normal working hours are between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, though the nature of the role will result in overtime work as and when required, and periods of on‑call on a rota.
- On‑call will be required after an appropriate period (usually after 6 months).
- Competitive salary to be discussed at interview.
- Hours of work: 40 hours per week plus overtime.
- Contract type: permanent.
