The role:As a Staff Nurse within the Endoscopy Department, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, person-centred care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. The role involves delivering specialist nursing care throughout the patient journey, including admission, recovery and discharge, while ensuring care is delivered safely, effectively and in line with professional standards. You will be responsible for assessing patient needs, planning and evaluating care, supporting patients and their families, and contributing to the continuous development of clinical practice within the service.

Key responsibilities:You will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures, ensuring their physical, emotional and psychosocial needs are met throughout their treatment journey. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate person-centred care, maintain accurate patient records, and adhere to NMC, NHS and Health & Safety standards. The post holder will supervise and support registered and non-registered staff, regularly lead nursing teams, contribute to staff development and clinical education, and support research, audit and quality improvement activities.
You will also assist with the day-to-day management of resources, equipment, supplies and staffing, contribute to recruitment and selection activities, and help ensure the efficient operation of the department while maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors and colleagues.
- Registered Adult Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Ability to fulfil the professional and clinical requirements of the role.
- Previous experience within an Endoscopy or Day Surgery environment is desirable.
- Knowledge of person-centred care principles and evidence-based practice.
- Understanding of NMC standards, professional accountability and relevant healthcare legislation.
- Ability to supervise, support and develop registered and non-registered staff.
- Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Competent in maintaining electronic and written patient records.
- Understanding of Health & Safety, Data Protection and confidentiality requirements.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, clinical audit and service improvement.
