A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic NMC Registered Nurse working within the Ophthalmology outpatient department in Inverclyde Royal Hospital Greenock. The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of the Ophthalmology team, of experienced RN’s and HCSW’s. You will have the responsibility of the assessment delivery and supervision of all care needs within outpatient setting.

You will be required to work within a busy clinical area, working collaboratively with both nursing and medical teams. You will be expected to deliver a high standard of evidence-based care utilising your clinical skills to assess patient’s needs, implement and evaluate care. You are required to be flexible, forward thinking and able to work effectively within a changing and dynamic environment.

You will be an effective ream member with excellent communication and sound decision-making skills with evidence of ongoing professional development. Experience/interest within the specialty is essential. If you have the desired skills and motivation to successfully fulfil this position, we will welcome your application.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

This is a permanent, full-time post of 36 hours per week.

This role is based at Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Larkfield Road, Greenock, PA16 0XN
.

The shift pattern is Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities:

Clinical
  • Provide assessment of patient needs, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, which are evidence based. Utilising all available resources taking into consideration the lifestyle, gender and cultural background and ensure involvement with the patient, family, carers and significant others.
  • Maintain patient records in line with NMC guidelines for records and record keeping.
Professional
  • Practice within the legal & Ethical framework as established by Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) and National Legislation to ensure patient interests and well-being are met.
  • Work within the National Health Service (NHS), NHS Greater Glasgow and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Legislation, Policy, Guidelines and Procedures.
  • Empower patients to take responsibility for their health, well-being and future lifestyle by practising in an open transparent and inclusive manner thereby ensuring patients have the relevant information to participate in decisions about their care.
  • Promote and support innovation in clinical practice.
Education and Research/Audit
  • Ensure the provision of an appropriate learning environment in line with NES Quality Placement Standards.
  • Ensure completion of clinical appraisals for pre and post registration nurses.
  • Demonstrate own professional development.
