Specialist Mental Health Nurse - CAMHS

This is an exciting opportunity for a permanent Band 6 Specialist Mental Health Nurse to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service ( CAMHS) based at Greenock Health and Care Centre, Inverclyde. The candidate must have a First level Registered Mental Nurse (RMN/RNLD) with NMC Registration. Relevant post-registration experience of working with children and/or young people (and their families/carers) with a range of mental health/ learning disability and neuro-developmental difficulties is advantageous.

Candidates must have an ability to work independently using own initiative and without direct supervision. They must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and team working skills and demonstrate a positive attitude towards children and young people alongside an understanding of children and young people’s mental health and developmental needs.

As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC registration will be required before start date. You should therefore note that candidates who are unable to confirm current NMC registration, in line with the projected start date for this post, may not be shortlisted for interview. • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist programmes of care for children and young people with complex mental health needs
• Manage and coordinate a defined caseload acting as Named Nurse or Care Coordinator where appropriate
• Undertake comprehensive mental health and risk assessments to support safe and effective care planning
• Build therapeutic relationships with children, young people, families and carers using a person-centred and recovery-focused approach
• Deliver evidence-based interventions and psychological approaches within agreed competency frameworks
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for service users
• Provide supervision, support and mentorship to nursing staff, healthcare support workers and students

• Registered Mental Health Nurse or RNLD with current NMC Registration
• Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience
• Specialist knowledge of mental health assessment, risk management, recovery and person-centred care
• Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development and commitment to lifelong learning
• Experience of working with individuals who have complex mental health needs within community or specialist services
• Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Knowledge of relevant mental health legislation, professional standards and safeguarding frameworks applicable to children and young people
