Accounting Manager

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join a growing organization in the Greensboro area. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical accounting background who also understands project-based operations and how accounting ties into the business.

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for core accounting functions while supporting project financials, job costing, work in progress, and month-end reporting. The ideal candidate will come from a construction, contracting, heavy equipment, industrial services, or similar project-driven environment.

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities and support the monthly close process.
• Review general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Analyze job costs, project profitability, WIP, and percentage-of-completion reporting.
• Support project accounting, billing, invoicing, and accounts receivable activity.
• Review project and operational data for accuracy and financial impact.
• Work closely with operations and project teams to understand job activity and resolve accounting issues.
• Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Improve accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls.
• Prepare reports and financial information for senior leadership.
• Support additional accounting and finance projects as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Accounting management or senior-level accounting experience preferred.
• Strong experience with job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Background in construction, contracting, crane/heavy equipment, industrial services, or another project-based industry
• Strong month-end close and general ledger experience.
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify issues in financial data.
• Comfortable working with both accounting and operational teams.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
