Business Services Coordinator – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, College of Engineering, Civil Architecture & Environmental Engineering Department
Position Overview: The Business Services Coordinator performs a range of business, fiscal, and administrative functions to support the natural science and engineering programs. The role works closely with the department chair, faculty, students, and external stakeholders, coordinating business processes, communications, and the department’s budget.
Key Responsibilities- Communication
:
Develops and edits written documents, reports, and presentations; responds to non‑routine inquiries; greets visitors; provides accurate information and maintains a professional attitude. - Business and Records Administration
:
Manages internal salary authorization forms, faculty records, and departmental information; prepares packages for new hires; maintains electronic records; provides annual and special reports. - Financial Management
:
Applies accounting and budget procedures; approves expenditures; compiles and summarizes financial data; advises coordinators on budgeting; manages the overall department budget and reconciles accounts. - Information Analysis and Decision Making
:
Investigates and resolves policy questions; analyzes business operations and financial statements; coordinates with other university units; keeps abreast of departmental policy changes. - Planning and Organizing Work / Supervision
:
Directs work unit activities; develops new processes; supervises student workers; schedules meetings; reviews staff evaluations; maintains mentoring relationships; coordinates reporting requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Five or more years of administrative experience in higher education.
- Proficiency in business, financial, and record‑keeping practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Classification: SHRA, Non‑Exempt, Permanent – Full‑time (40 hrs/week). Competency Level: Advanced.
Working Title:
Business Services Coordinator. Position Number: 002091. Recruitment Range: $48,144 – $55,800. FTE: 12 months. Open Date: 01/06/2026. Close Date: 01/31/2026.
