Director, Physician and Provider

The Director of Physician and Provider Compensation is responsible for the strategic design, modeling, implementation, and administration of compensation programs for physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) across Cone Health. This role ensures compensation plans are competitive, compliant with regulatory requirements, aligned with organizational goals, and supportive of recruitment, retention, and performance outcomes.

• Lead the design, development and ongoing refinement of provider compensation models (e.g., wRVU/value-based productivity plans, quality incentive structures, hybrid compensation models).
• Build and manage sophisticated financial models to forecast compensation spend, productivity benchmarks, and incentive payouts across a 1,650+ provider network.
• Align compensation plans with organizational goals, including quality, patient outcomes, access, and financial performance.
• Conduct ongoing analysis of compensation plan performance to ensure market competitiveness through benchmarking (e.g., MGMA, AMGA, Sullivan Cotter).
• Lead enterprise efforts to standardize provider compensation models and reduce unnecessary variation across the medical group while preserving specialty-specific requirements.
• Support compensation integration and redesign efforts associated with acquisitions, practice consolidations, and strategic growth initiatives.

• Oversee administration of provider compensation plans, including calculations, audits, and payouts.
• Establish and enforce governance structures and workflow for compensation plan exceptions, off-cycle adjustments, and new-hire offer structures.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Develop and maintain compensation decision-making frameworks that promote consistency, transparency, and accountability across specialties, service lines, and practice settings.

• Ensure full compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, IRS guidelines).
• Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to review compensation arrangements and contracts.
• Oversee fair market value (FMV) and commercial reasonableness assessments.

• Develop and maintain compensation dashboards, reports, and analytics.
• Monitor key metrics (e.g., wRVUs, collections, panel size, access, quality measures).
• Provide insights to leadership to inform decision-making and workforce planning.

• Collaborate with physician contracting teams to structure compensation terms.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in negotiations and provider conversations.
• Educate providers and leaders on compensation models and performance drivers.

• Lead and develop a team of compensation analysts and team members.
• Collaborate with Finance, People + Culture, Medical Group Operations, and Executive Leadership on compensation philosophy alignment, total rewards positioning, and integration with Cone Health enterprise compensation frameworks.
• Support strategic initiatives such as growth, acquisitions, and service line expansion

• Lead implementation, optimization, and governance of provider compensation technology platforms and supporting data systems.
• Develop scalable compensation workflows and automation strategies to reduce manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
• Partner with Information Technology, Finance, and operational leaders to improve data
