- Hourly Employment

Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays. - Limited Hours
:
Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12 month period. - Pension System
:
Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.

Camp Joy is an inclusive day camp designed for individuals with and without disabilities. This position performs supervisory work managing a summer camp and a broad range of services. Supervision of paid staff, programs, operations and facility maintenance are involved. An employee in this class provides skilled leadership in specific functions in support of facility-based summer recreation programs and activities. This position is responsible for developing and scheduling camp activities;
ensuring a safe camp environment at all times; and leads correspondence with parents/guardians. Work requires specialized program knowledge with individuals with disabilities and is performed with considerable independence under general supervision of AIR Coordinators.
- Assist with interviews for camp staff
- Assist with the implementation of staff evaluations
- Responsible for assigning campers and staff to appropriate cabins/vans
- Implements disciplinary actions to be taken with behavior issues at camp
- Makes decisions on inclement weather conditions
- Responsible for conducting weekly staff meetings
- Oversees the sign in/out process and transportation program
- Supervise all counselors and instructors and will regularly visit each area in order to ensure the smooth operation of the program
- Will develop forms, guidelines, and deadlines for lesson plans and evaluation of the plans
- Offer insight and assistance to staff with activity adaptations or modifications
- Will submit camp supply requests to AIR Coordinators when supplies are needed
This job is Non-Exempt under FLSA policy.
Minimum Qualifications- Valid Driver’s License
- 5+ years working with persons with disabilities
- 3+ years summer camp experience
- First Aid/ CPR/ AED certified
- Behavior Intervention Training
