The MEP Superintendent’s primary role is to supervise and direct the construction crew with a high standard of quality and to ensure that the project is constructed in a safe manner, according to design, budget, and schedule.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate various subcontractors to ensure contract compliance.
  • Act as “First-In-Command” on projects and maintain professionalism, courtesy, respect, and helpfulness at all times.
  • Assume responsibility for the productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
  • Provide technical, manpower, means, and method input to the estimating process as requested.
  • Monitor and ensure worker and subcontractor safety, reporting all accidents immediately to the Safety Director.
  • Investigate all accidents and complete an Accident Form thoroughly.
  • Conduct effective and inclusive morning huddles with crews to coordinate daily and weekly activities.
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and all progress meetings as required.
  • Act as a safety champion on all projects, enforcing safety rules and addressing violations.
  • Correct unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Review and understand the overall project scope, subcontractor scope, plans, specifications, schedule, estimate of self-performed work, cost codes, and conditions.
  • Work with the Project Manager to develop the Project Schedule, determine trade, staffing, material, tools, and equipment requirements, and confirm availability.
  • Review project safety, security, logistics, layout, labor, permits, and conditions.
  • Implement Safety/Security Program, including setup of office and laydown areas, parking, and other requirements.
  • Establish project survey and base layout control and benchmarks.
  • Provide direction to staff for self-performed work, ensuring quality, cost, schedule, and client satisfaction goals are met.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the customer, AE, subcontractors, labor, and the construction team.
  • Maintain required project documentation, including plans, specifications, as-builts, shop drawings, samples, inspections, test reports, meeting minutes, and daily logs.
  • Provide daily field reports and % complete information to the main office.
  • Maintain records of changes in scope and schedule for pricing purposes.
  • Handle labor relations and jurisdictional disputes.
  • Assist with all closeout requirements.
