Job Description

Provides direct patient care services by independently and interdependently scheduling and/or conducting complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Participates in the delivery of patient care within the scope of authority granted by the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develops policies and procedures related to clinical services.
  • Supervises midlevel practitioner staff.
  • Performs physical exams, obtains medical history, and interprets findings.
  • Orders and reviews laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Determines diagnosis and therapeutic plans based on data interpretation.
  • Administers medications, immunizations, and injections following legal and clinic guidelines.
  • Provides patient education, counseling, and health promotion services.
  • Coordinates diagnostic procedures and explains them to patients.
  • Reviews and renews medication prescriptions per standing orders and physician advice.
  • Maintains accurate patient records and prepares referral letters.
  • Performs administrative duties as requested.
  • Communicates with outside agencies regarding patient care.
  • Refers patients to specialists as needed.
  • Participates in clinical research and analysis.
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals regarding patient conditions.
  • Attends staff meetings and continuing education sessions.
  • Promotes organizational goals and maintains confidentiality.
  • Follows safety and health policies and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Preparation and Training

    Requires MD with residency in primary care, current medical license in NC, Board certification or eligibility, DEA registration, CPR, and ACLS/PALS certification. Valid NC driver’s license required.

    Experience

    Experience with low-income and indigent care preferred. Approximately 3-5 years to proficiency with policies and procedures.
