Job Description Provides direct patient care services by independently and interdependently scheduling and/or conducting complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Participates in the delivery of patient care within the scope of authority granted by the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners.
Job Responsibilities Develops policies and procedures related to clinical services.Supervises midlevel practitioner staff.Performs physical exams, obtains medical history, and interprets findings.Orders and reviews laboratory and diagnostic tests.Determines diagnosis and therapeutic plans based on data interpretation.Administers medications, immunizations, and injections following legal and clinic guidelines.Provides patient education, counseling, and health promotion services.Coordinates diagnostic procedures and explains them to patients.Reviews and renews medication prescriptions per standing orders and physician advice.Maintains accurate patient records and prepares referral letters.Performs administrative duties as requested.Communicates with outside agencies regarding patient care.Refers patients to specialists as needed.Participates in clinical research and analysis.Collaborates with healthcare professionals regarding patient conditions.Attends staff meetings and continuing education sessions.Promotes organizational goals and maintains confidentiality.Follows safety and health policies and regulations.Performs other duties as assigned.Preparation and Training
Requires MD with residency in primary care, current medical license in NC, Board certification or eligibility, DEA registration, CPR, and ACLS/PALS certification. Valid NC driver’s license required.
Experience
Experience with low-income and indigent care preferred. Approximately 3-5 years to proficiency with policies and procedures.
