The Department of Geography, Environment, and Sustainability at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Environmental Science with an emphasis in hydrology and water resources, inclusive of ecohydrology and river science, to begin August 1, 2026. Candidates must hold or anticipate a Ph.D. in Geography, Environmental Science, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
We seek a dynamic scholar‑teacher to build on existing departmental strengths in physical geography, planning, GIScience, and sustainability. We are interested in candidates with high potential to develop an externally funded research program and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research.
The candidate will teach courses in hydrology and water resources, plus one or more courses in physical geography, environmental science, environmental planning and policy, and sustainability. Strong skills and experience using geographic information systems (GIS) in research are highly desirable. The ability to work interdisciplinarily with other departments and programs will be viewed favorably.
Minimum Qualifications:- Candidates must hold or anticipate a Ph.D. in Geography, Environmental Science, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
