Saturday Academy Instructor, Math 9th & 10th Grade (Spring 2026)
SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) invites applications for a part‑time, seasonal Saturday Academy Instructor to teach rigorous college‑prep math to 9th and 10th grade students. Instruction will be conducted 100% online via Zoom.
Position OverviewInstructors deliver SEO’s original curriculum, coach and facilitate learning, and support Scholars’ journeys to competitive colleges. The role requires strong content knowledge, student‑centered pedagogy, and proficiency with instructional technology.
Courses for Spring 2026- 9th Math:
Numbers and Operations - 10th Math:
Trigonometry
- Self‑guided asynchronous instructor training: 10 hours, completed before program start
- Instructor orientations: 02/05, 5:30‑8:00 pm
- Synchronous online instruction:
Saturdays, 8:45 am‑2:15 pm (includes 30‑minute lunch) - Maximum of 10 hours per week (Standard + Flex hours)
- Co‑teach 3–4 periods (ELA and Advisory) and lead single‑class sessions when covering for others.
- Follow lesson plans, meet objectives, and maintain rigorous instruction and student engagement.
- Prepare content, adapt pacing, and use SEO technologies (Brightspace, Nearpod, G‑Suite, Zoom chat) efficiently.
- Host tutoring and academic support sessions, including open‑door lunch tutoring and week‑day office hours.
- Model an energetic, approachable classroom culture.
- Attend scheduled meetings, trainings, and debriefs; respond to emails and chat promptly.
- Meet with an instructional coach at least twice weekly to receive and implement feedback.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a content‑related field
- Teaching certification, K‑12 classroom experience, or higher‑education teaching experience
- Comfortable and skilled with learning technology systems
- Practice of student‑centered pedagogy and high‑school‑level literacy instruction
- Experience working with high‑school‑aged students
- Eagerness to engage in discussions on societal challenges
Preferred
- Secondary education degree and certification
- Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Certification, PD, or tertiary education in instructional technology
Hourly rate: $40. Average 10 hours per week. Position is benefits‑ineligible.
