Position Title: Graduate Assistant for Connection and Inclusion Programming - TBC

Position Summary: The term Graduate Assistant is the umbrella term that encompasses all types of GA appointments. Graduate Assistants are employed by the University to teach, conduct research, or assist with administrative duties in departments and non-academic units. Every attempt is made to assign Graduate Assistants to positions that are directly related to the student’s field of study or that provide the opportunity to develop transferable, professional skills.

Graduate Assistantships are assigned in the department or unit and confirmed by the Graduate School.

Department/Office Mission: The Office of Intercultural Engagement at UNC Greensboro aspires to be a model of excellence for inclusive student-centered intercultural engagement and education, dialogue, and community building. Reporting: This GA will report to the Assistant Director for Diverse Student Engagement.

Job Duties And/or Responsibilities:

  • Engage and support diverse student populations in order to improve retention and student success.
  • Provide mentoring and student advising that is responsive to retention data.
  • Assist with building an active network of support for The Black Collective.
  • Encourage students to engage with The Black Collective and other existing programs and services that support student success.
  • Assist with assessment and evaluation efforts for diverse student engagement initiatives (i.e., conduct surveys and other methods of data collection); analyze and maintain results, and develop reports to inform the direction of future programs.
  • Promote the office mission and programs via presentations and information tables at university events, including but not limited to:
    Fall Kickoff, Welcome Week, Admissions events and SOAR.
  • Provide on‑site staffing and support for OIE programs/events when needed.
  • Participate in OIE staff meetings, Division of Student Affairs meetings, and other department/division committees as needed.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.

Work Hours, Environment:

  • 20 hours per week (some evenings and weekends).
  • Will have dedicated workstation in the Office of Intercultural Engagement while working with students, staff, and faculty partners throughout UNCG’s campus.

Stipend: $14,000

Tuition Waiver: In‑state tuition waiver provided.

Other Benefits: Professional development opportunities/funds may be provided.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Maintain academic good standing at all times (3.0).
  • Be enrolled full‑time, which is generally a minimum of 9 credits.
  • Make satisfactory progress toward your degree as defined by your academic program and the Graduate School.
  • Meet the requirements to be eligible for employment in the U.S.
