OverviewNew Products Engineer primary responsibility is design, development, validation and launch of new and innovative consumer products. Secondary responsibilities include current product maintenance, supporting operational, quality and cost optimization initiatives. This position will be on site at the Camco Greensboro location.
Responsibilities- Develop new product designs from concepts, based on customer interests, budgets, and market research.
- Apply a functional knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, structural mechanics and design for manufacturability & reliability towards achieving product goals
- Coordinate all product development work for assigned products and ensure engineering objectives are met
- Work collaboratively with local and overseas production personnel, purchasing personnel, suppliers and customers to create optimal solutions to support the business
- Effectively use engineering tools and processes such as detailed design reviews, etc., to ensure that the end-product meets all customer requirements.
- Provide prototyping support for early‑stage development work
- Develop and issue validation procedures as required
- Understand product cost structure to review and negotiate supplier quotes
- Report validation results in a clear and concise manner
- Apply validation learnings to make design recommendations
- Select product materials and appropriate product manufacturing processes
- Support improvement of current and implementation of new engineering systems and processes
- Comply with the policies, procedures, and expectations outlined in Camco employee handbook
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a product design and release engineer in a manufacturing environment
- CAD 3D modelling and component/assembly drawing creation proficiency is required, Solidworks experience preferred.
- Experience with injection molding and metal forming part manufacturing and design
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work on multiple project tasks to completion
- Self‑motivated with strong customer focus and interpersonal skills
- Experience writing technical specifications, validation test procedures and test reports
- Participate in submitting patent disclosures and generating IP and publications in support of business needs
- Project management experience is preferred
- Willing to travel internationally
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future
