Payroll Coordinator
The Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process for our employees, maintaining payroll records, and supporting employee inquiries related to compensation. This is an ideal full-time role for someone with strong organizational skills and prior payroll experience in a professional and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for employees across the firm
- Review and verify payroll data, expense reimbursements, and time‑off requests
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data in the payroll system
- Coordinate with HR on new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to Finance and Leadership
- Provide support with benefit and retirement enrollments
- Record payroll and benefit related activity in the general ledger
- Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits
- Assist with year‑end processes, including W‑2 preparation and audits
Key Competencies
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and best practices
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., Bamboo, ADP, Paychex, Gusto, or similar)
- Proficiency in Excel and comfortable working with HRIS systems
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Familiarity with accounting principles related to payroll
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage deadlines independently
Education and Experience
- 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a professional services or similar environment
- Associate’s degree in accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is a plus, but not required
