Payroll Coordinator

The Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process for our employees, maintaining payroll records, and supporting employee inquiries related to compensation. This is an ideal full-time role for someone with strong organizational skills and prior payroll experience in a professional and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for employees across the firm
  • Review and verify payroll data, expense reimbursements, and time‑off requests
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data in the payroll system
  • Coordinate with HR on new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to Finance and Leadership
  • Provide support with benefit and retirement enrollments
  • Record payroll and benefit related activity in the general ledger
  • Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits
  • Assist with year‑end processes, including W‑2 preparation and audits

Key Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and best practices
  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., Bamboo, ADP, Paychex, Gusto, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Excel and comfortable working with HRIS systems
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Familiarity with accounting principles related to payroll
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines independently

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a professional services or similar environment
  • Associate’s degree in accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is a plus, but not required
