The Fresh Market currently has an opening for a Data Engineer in our Store Support Center (099). The Data Engineer will be designing, developing, and supporting robust data warehouse systems. Expertise in planning, managing databases, and ensuring efficient data storage, access, and security. Proficient in technical administration for data warehouse development and maintenance, with a focus on coordinating data quality, performance, security, and overall management for organizational needs.
WhatYou'll Do
- Collaborate with users to design, code, test, debug, and deploy databases that meet requirements and organizational needs.
- Act as liaison between information technology and business units.
- Evaluate new data sources for adherence to the organization's quality standards and ease of integration.
- Manipulate and combine data from various sources to enlarge and enhance the data warehouse.
- Perform data extraction, ensure data accuracy, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs during data warehouse operations.
- Write queries, stored procedures and functions for database development.
- Develop strategies for warehouse implementation, data acquisition and access, and data archiving and recovery.
- Plan and execute data warehouse implementations following system requirements and anticipated usage.
- Provide technical support and coordination during warehouse design, testing and movement to production.
- Design and build databases for data storage or processing.
- Evaluate existing database design to determine necessary updates, performance tuning, and integration requirements.
- Monitor databases' performance, scalability, and security and modify procedures to optimize database designs.
- Build data models and define the structure, attributes and nomenclature of data elements.
- Understand and utilize ETL tools like Informatica and programming languages like Python.
- Design and write code for ETL data solutions.
- Implement and enforce standards and procedures to ensure data is managed consistently and properly integrated within the warehouse.
- Ensure sufficient data quality is maintained so that the data can effectively support the business process.
- Define data elements and establish policies and procedures related to the collection and accuracy of data, and perform tests on data systems.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of database technologies and solid coding and computer system skills.
- Work on projects independently with general supervision.
- Work will have moderate technical complexity.
- Communicate facts, policies, and practices related to job area.
- Bachelor's Degree in one of the following disciplines or similar:
Computer Science, Database Systems, Information Systems, or equivalent engineering degree. - Requires 2 - 5 years of professional experience or deemed to possess that level of skill.
- Collaborate with other technical teams to assist in achievement of team agile sprint goals.
- Proficiency with the following technologies: SQL Language, Snowflake, (ETL/ELT) Systems, Cloud Data Warehouse Systems.
- Excellent analytical, conceptual thinking, problem solving, planning, and execution skills.
- Ability to identify and evaluate new data management technologies and the business benefits.
- Demonstrated ability to use agile methodology to estimate and plan project outcomes.
