Release Train Engineer (RTE)/Agile Coach
12+ Month Contract (W2 ONLY, NO C-C)
Liberty, NC (Onsite 4-5 days a week)
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Agile Coach and Release Train Engineer (RTE) to guide teams, leaders, and the organization in adopting, scaling, and optimizing Agile practices. This role blends enterprise Agile coaching with hands‑on SAFe execution, serving as both a change agent and a servant leader for one or more Agile Release Trains (ARTs).
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SAFe and Agile frameworks, strong facilitation and leadership skills, and a proven ability to drive Agile maturity, improve delivery outcomes, and align teams to strategic business objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesAgile Coaching & Transformation
- Coach cross‑functional teams, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Product Managers, and leaders on Agile values, principles, and best practices.
- Lead and support Agile transformation initiatives at the team, program, and enterprise levels.
- Assess Agile maturity and define actionable roadmaps for continuous improvement.
- Facilitate Agile training, workshops, and coaching sessions across all organizational levels.
- Act as a change agent by influencing organizational mindset, behaviors, and operating models.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, feedback, and relentless improvement.
Release Train Engineering
- Serve as the Release Train Engineer (RTE) for one or more Agile Release Trains.
- Facilitate SAFe events including PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, ART Sync, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt.
- Partner with Product Management, System Architects, and Business Owners to ensure alignment on priorities and delivery.
- Identify, manage, and help resolve risks, dependencies, and impediments across teams.
- Track and communicate program‑level metrics, progress, and outcomes.
- Ensure predictable delivery of value while maintaining quality and sustainability.
Operational Support
- Collaborate with stakeholders to remove organizational and systemic impediments to Agile adoption.
- Support and guide the implementation and optimization of Agile tools such as Jira, Jira Align, Azure Dev Ops, or Rally.
- Provide transparent reporting and insights on Agile adoption, flow, and delivery performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years of experience as an Agile Coach, RTE, or senior Agile practitioner.
- Strong hands‑on experience with SAFe, including ART leadership and facilitation.
- Deep knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, LeSS, XP).
- Experience coaching at team, program, and enterprise levels.
- Exceptional facilitation, mentoring, and communication skills.
- Proven leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) or SAFe RTE.
- Certified Scrum Professional (CSP).
- ICAgile Certified Professional – Agile Coaching (ICP‑ACC).
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).
- PMI‑ACP or equivalent Agile certification.
- Experience with Jira, Jira Align, Azure Dev Ops, Rally, or similar tooling.
- Background in software development, engineering, or product management.
- Experience operating in large‑scale, regulated, or complex enterprise environments.
- Experience supporting multiple ARTs or portfolio‑level initiatives.
Estimated Min Rate: $75.00
