Captain of Support Services

Primary Purpose Of Position

Provides executive command and managerial law enforcement work at a university campus or other state facility. Reports to the Deputy Chief of Police.

Key Duties

  • Develop policies and procedures.
  • Plan and organize operations.
  • Manage budget development and allocate resources.
  • Maintain relationships with the community, campus stakeholders, media outlets, and other local law enforcement agencies.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least a bachelor’s degree (or higher) and eight years of sworn law enforcement officer experience, or an associate degree with ten years of experience.
  • At least four years of supervisory experience equivalent to a supervisory role.
  • Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer in accordance with the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in university or higher‑education campus policing.
  • Advanced training in community policing and crime prevention.

Salary

$95,000 to $112,227 (commensurate with education and experience).

Work Location

On‑site – employees are primarily in the office and/or required to work in the critical office space on‑site.
