INTRODUCTION And WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Focus Factory Manager (FFM) is a critical leadership role within Gilbarco North America’s manufacturing facility. This role drives critical metrics around safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and inventory. A Focus Factory Manager sets direction based on customer delivery requirements and drives his/her team to meet these requirements. They are responsible for all activities within the focus factory that affect the success of the Company and customer satisfaction.
The FFM oversees the end‑to‑end production processes within a specific segment of the factory, ensuring efficient operations, high‑quality output, and adherence to safety standards. The FFM implements lean manufacturing principles, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and leads a cross‑functional team to achieve operational excellence.
- Ensure a safe working environment for all associates and drive to eliminate any environmental, health, and safety incidents.
- Identify, implement, and track long‑ and short‑term strategies that ensure positive results in financial performance, manufacturing excellence, materials management, and inventory control.
- Determine and monitor overall resource capacity (personnel and equipment) for the focus factory and set priorities to maintain production expectations.
- Implement and maintain lean manufacturing principles to minimize waste and optimize productivity.
- Monitor performance metrics—including production rates, quality levels, and downtime—and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure that the quality systems for the focus factory are developed and sustained to ensure our customers receive the highest quality product possible.
- Ensure that production goals are being met around KPIs (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity) while maintaining cost competitiveness.
- Manage and control the WIP inventory levels (Kanban) and consumables and components used in the production and repair process.
- Participate in discussions related to new product development through interaction with the product development department.
- Act as a role model to company personnel and be recognized as a leader.
- Assess, identify, and implement technological advancements.
- Drive continuous improvement activities utilizing lean manufacturing principles and tools.
- Develop procedures and establish guidelines for maintaining the factory’s presentation, including cleaning, painting, and conservation, to keep the place in conditions that promote optimal employee performance.
- Communicate with appropriate outside sources to provide resolutions to customer and company questions and concerns, production process effectiveness, and other quality–related issues as they arise.
- Disseminate and ensure the application of quality, occupational health and safety, and environmental policies to all employees.
- Comply with the standards and procedures related to the quality, environmental, occupational health and safety management system.
- Manage the work team, selecting, guiding, training, monitoring performance, evaluating performance, ensuring compliance with organizational procedures and safety standards, and interacting with other personnel‑management matters.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead and manage cross‑functional teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
