PL Fork Lift Driver

Overview

3 PL Fork Lift Driver at Industries of the Blind, Greensboro. This position is responsible for the movement and storage of products and materials utilizing powered and mechanical material handling equipment.

• Coordinate forklift operator activities through the material expediter.
• Operate material handling equipment daily to receive, move, store, or ship products and materials.
• Complete daily forklift inspection sheets and report problems to the supervisor.
• Unload products or materials from trucks and tractor-trailers.
• Perform initial receiving inspections, verify count, stock number, and product matches; report damage or discrepancies to the material expediter.
• Process shipments through computer systems and perform data entry of receiving documentation.
• Store products and materials safely in proper storage areas.
• Shrink wrap palletized shipping orders and move them to the shipping station for further processing.
• Load outgoing freight as needed.
• Monitor space availability in bulk storage areas.
• Assist material handlers when picking orders from bulk storage.
• Perform cycle counts of bulk storage areas as required.
• Maintain safety and good housekeeping practices.

• Must be able to operate all material handling equipment safely in accordance with OSHA standards and company safety rules.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including hard hat and hard-toed shoes.
• Ability to read and complete written documentation.
• Good math skills.
• Certified as an authorized forklift operator by the company and must successfully complete annual re-certification requirements.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

1 to 2 years. Certification as an authorized forklift operator by the company with annual re-certification.

Ability to use physical dexterity for an entire shift. Able to lift up to 15 pounds. Noise in work environment is moderate. Requires the ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
