Summary/Objective:

The Staff Development Coordinator (SDC) develops and implements training to ensure job skills and competency, provides education to adult learners, and oversees orientation and onboarding of new staff. The SDC is a key contributor to workplace culture, promoting and upholding organizational values and work ethic.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that improve the customer experience, enhance workflow, and/or improve the work environment.
  • Work cooperatively with the Administrator and Director of Nursing to assess educational needs and plan programs that meet regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct interviews for nursing staff.
  • Collect drug screens pre‑hire, post‑accident, and random as indicated.
  • Monitor certification and license status for renewals, complete online CNA renewals.
  • Track and administer TB, Hepatitis B, and other vaccinations.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and agency orientation as applicable.
  • Provide ongoing education of staff to meet regulatory requirements, standards of practice, and re‑training needs.
  • Manage the Relias Program to ensure timely staff access and completion.
  • Assess skills competencies of the nursing department.
  • Observe monthly hand washing, mechanical lift, and transfer tasks.
  • Oversee hall as assigned by the Director of Nursing to ensure quality resident care, documentation, communication with providers, and family notification.
  • Med pass observations of licensed nurses (medication aides as applicable).
  • Perform audits as assigned by the Director of Nursing or Administrator.
  • Other duties as assigned by the DON or Administrator.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position directly supervises all nursing staff, including RN, LPN, and CNA.

Required

Education and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse in NC.
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience in a health care setting; long‑term care preferred.
  • Current/active CPR certification.
  • Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long‑term care.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and work well within a team environment.
  • Customer service oriented and able to work well under pressure.

Preferred

Education and Experience:

  • Five years RN experience.
  • Previous experience managing a nursing department.
