A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who practices both autonomously and collaboratively with a team of health providers to deliver high-quality, evidence-based anesthesia and pain management services. The CRNA cares for patients across all age groups and acuity levels in various settings, supporting procedures such as surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and pain management interventions.

Education:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program recognized by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor.
Experience:

Licensure, Certification, and Registry:
- North Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- Recognition as an Advanced Practice RN by the NC Board of Nursing
- Certification/Recertification as a Nurse Anesthetist by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NCBRNA)
- BLS (CPR) certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
- ACLS Certification
- PALs or NPR as recommended per campus
