As a Registered Nurse (RN) at Friends Homes, you’ll play a key leadership role in overseeing and delivering compassionate, high-quality care to residents in a long-term care environment. You’ll help guide clinical staff, coordinate care, and ensure compliance with all standards while fostering a homelike and respectful atmosphere.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Direct, administer, and document resident care in accordance with physician orders and community policies
- Monitor and record resident progress and communicate with physicians and family members
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during rounds
- Coordinate and manage care provided by nursing staff and oversee CNAs
- Participate in admission assessments and resident care planning
- Maintain accurate records, Medication Administration Records (MARs), and treatment plans
- Respond to emergency and health-related calls from residents
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide coverage when needed
- Supervise and assist with orientation and ongoing training of nursing personnel
- Provide in-service education and promote professional development
- Support resident rights and dignity in every interaction
- Ensure compliance with infection control, OBRA, OSHA, and HIPAA standards
- Use and manage medical equipment and electronic records systems, including PIXIS
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and committee work as needed (e.g., QAPI, safety)
Required:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina
- Current CPR certification (must meet American Heart Association standards or equivalent)
- Experience with geriatric or long-term care residents
- Strong clinical judgment and documentation skills
- Ability to lead a team and manage multiple priorities
- Physical ability to assist with resident transfers and emergency care
- Experience working in a Life Plan Community or similar senior care environment
- Familiarity with the Household Model of care and person-centered practices
- Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently; assist with resident transfers
- Frequent bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, and standing for extended periods
- Use of various medical and office equipment throughout the shift
