Honda Aircraft Company, LLC is seeking a Metrology Specialist in Greensboro, NC. You will perform precision 3D dimensional inspections of aircraft tooling, assembly fixtures, and aerostructures using laser trackers, portable metrology arms, and optical 3D scanners to ensure aerodynamic compliance.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform dimensional verification of tooling, jigs, and aircraft components using laser trackers and metrology arms.
- Collect and analyze 3D coordinate point clouds against CAD models (CATIA V5) and aerodynamic tolerances.
- Generate graphical and analytical inspection reports for engineering, tooling, and production leadership.
- Provide hands-on support for fixture setup, laser tracker alignment, and tooling adjustments on the shop floor.
- Maintain, calibrate, and verify accuracy of precision metrology equipment to traceable standards.
Qualifications:
- Technical degree or 3+ years of hands-on metrology experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
- Proficiency with metrology software (Verisurf, Spatial Analyzer, Poly Works, or Geomagic).
- Strong working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience reading engineering drawings and 3D CAD models (CATIA preferred).
- Physical ability to maneuver around aircraft fixtures and lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
