Position
Nanoscience Post-Doctoral Fellow
Position SummaryThe Department of Nanoscience at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a research team focused on a Department of Defense‑funded project that studies interfacial interactions between microbes and metal‑organic frameworks (MOFs). A talented individual with expertise in Materials Science or nanoscience and strong hands‑on experience in electron microscopy tools is highly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain the high‑resolution transmission electron microscope (25%)
- Characterize biohybrid materials and substrates using electron microscopy tools (25%)
- Fabricate biohybrid devices and evaluate their performance for charge capacitors and photovoltaic cells (30%)
- Write scientific reports and prepare manuscripts (20%)
- Drive the project goals and meet the project objectives on time
- Oversee one undergraduate and one graduate student on the project
- Manage the lab
- Ph.D. in Materials Science or related fields, including biomolecular science, chemistry, biology, nanoscale sciences, and nanotechnology
- Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills
- Ph.D. in Materials Science or related field with extensive hands‑on experience in electron microscopy (HR‑TEM and SEM)
- Exposure to microbiology research, working with bacteria, and interfacing live microbes with abiotic substrates
