The Department of Nanoscience at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a research team focused on a Department of Defense‑funded project, which focuses on understanding interfacial interactions between microbes and Metal‑organic Frameworks (MOFs). A talented individual who is an expert in either the field of Materials science or nanoscience, with a strong hands‑on experience in electron microscopy tools, is highly encouraged to apply.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Operating and maintaining the High‑resolution Transmission Electron microscope (25%)
- Characterization of biohybrid materials and substrates using electron microscopy tools (25%)
- Biohybrid device fabrications and performance evaluations for charge capacitors and photovoltaic cells (30%)
- Scientific reports writing and manuscript preparation (20%)
- Driving the project goals and meeting the project objectives on time
- Overseeing one undergraduate and one graduate student on the project
- Managing the lab
- Ph.D. in Materials Science or related fields, including biomolecular science, chemical, and biological sciences, nanoscale sciences, and Nanotechnology.
- Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills.
- Ph.D. in Materials Science or related field with extensive hands‑on experience in electron microscopy (HR‑TEM and SEM).
- Having exposure to microbiology research, working with bacteria, and interfacing live microbes with abiotic substrates.
