Position Overview
The Department of Nanoscience at UNC Greensboro is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a Department of Defense‑funded project focused on understanding interfacial interactions between microbes and metal‑organic frameworks (MOFs). A candidate with expertise in materials science or nanoscience and hands‑on experience in electron microscopy is highly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain the high‑resolution transmission electron microscope (25%)
- Characterize biohybrid materials and substrates using electron microscopy tools (25%)
- Fabricate biohybrid devices and evaluate performance for charge capacitors and photovoltaic cells (30%)
- Write scientific reports and prepare manuscripts (20%)
Additional tasks include driving project goals and meeting objectives on time, overseeing one undergraduate and one graduate student, and managing the lab.
Minimum Qualifications- Ph.D. in Materials Science or related fields (biomolecular, chemical, biological sciences, nanoscale sciences, nanotechnology)
- Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills
- Ph.D. with extensive hands‑on experience in electron microscopy (HR‑TEM and SEM)
- Exposure to microbiology research and interfacing live microbes with abiotic substrates
