North Carolina A& State University (NC A&T) is soliciting applications for the position of the RCMI Clinical Research Associate / Lab Manager. The RCMI positions will support the successful implementation, administration, operations of a health disparities research center funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under the Research Centers at Minority Institutions (RCMI) mechanism. The RCMI at NC A&T will initially focus on brain health and cardiometabolic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders.

The RCMI Clinical Research Associate / Lab Manager plays a central operational and scientific role in executing a high-impact, multidisciplinary research project investigating how gut microbiota composition and intestinal permeability mediate early cardiometabolic pathophysiology and risk factors across the Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) continuum. Supported by an NIH R01 subaward under the NCAT Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) mechanism, this position integrates high-level clinical research data collection, laboratory operations oversight, and personnel training.

The Cardio Metabolic eXercise Laboratory (CMX
-Lab) conducts cutting-edge translational human research in collaboration with nanoengineering and microbiota experts. Focusing on a stratified-risk cohort of 200 participants from underrepresented populations in the greater Greensboro region, the lab uses gold-standard physiological techniques to unpack the complex connections between metabolic flexibility, microvascular blood flow, leaky gut biomarkers, and neurocognitive decline. The incumbent is expected to contribute to a culture of excellence, innovation, collaboration, and community engagement while supporting the growth and sustainability of the RCMI Center as a nationally recognized leader in health disparities research, research capacity development, and health equality advancement.
