Research Scientist

Position Overview

The Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) invites applications for a full‑time Research Scientist position. This DoD‑initiated multi‑year project is supported by industry and focuses on nanomaterials, particularly nanoparticle design, synthesis, characterization, and application. Responsibilities include publishing peer‑reviewed articles, writing and submitting grant proposals, disseminating research results, fostering collaborations, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and other duties under the PI.

The position is renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and funding, and requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency.

• Ph.D. in Nanoscience/Nanoengineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline.
• Solid background in nanomaterials and extensive experience in nanoparticle synthesis.
• Self‑motivated, independent researcher.
• Good communication skills.
• Publication record.
• Experience mentoring students.

• Experience in nanoparticle synthesis (metal, co‑shell, ceramic, hybrid) and characterization/application.
• Proficiency with analytical tools such as SEM, TEM, DSC, and other nanomaterial techniques.
• Excellent critical thinking, writing, communication, teamwork, and organization/management skills.
