As a Technician II at Penske, you»:
• You are a respected technician, trusted to work independently while doing major and minor repairs.
• You perform road tests to diagnose problems and complete maintenance tasks.
• You set an example and informally mentor new technicians while continuing to grow your skills.
- Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
- Doing preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little or no supervision and in a timely manner
- Repair resolve and troubleshoot components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
- Keeping your work area clean and safe
- Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
- Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training
- Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

- 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
- Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
- Experienced using tools of the trade (diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools)
- Valid driver’s license required
- The ability to solve problems
- Excellent customer service skills and communication skills
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- Willing to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions
- Basic computer skills
- Must understand and comply with Penske management instructions, guidelines, rules, and regulations
- Must adhere to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including use of PPE and machine guarding
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
- Required to maintain a current driver qualification file (MVR check, DOT physical, safety performance history, drug screening). currently holding a CDL holder must complete DOT drug screening and FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
- Willingness to travel as necessary within the district, work required schedule, complete Penske application, background and drug screening.
- Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods.
- Use hands daily to grasp, reach, touch, operate tools or controls.
- Work safely at heights with ladders and elevated platforms.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- See and hear to safely navigate the work environment.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs (45 kg); push/pull truck tires exceeding 100 lbs.
