The College of Nursing is an academic unit of East Carolina University, located on Health Sciences Campus. The purpose of the Nurse Anesthesia (NA) program is to provide students with opportunities for learning experiences that will prepare them, upon completion, to meet requirements to be eligible to sit for the Nurse Anesthesia National Certification Examination. The administrative assistant for the NA program will work closely with the program director, faculty members and 36 nurse anesthesia residents, performing duties for the program director and other faculty associated with the program.
Job Duties- Maintain student databases and collate all program evaluation data each semester, including student evaluations of external and internal rotations, and schedule student counseling.
- Record daily evaluations into database, create semester reports, and coordinate annual program evaluation data, graduate school applications, and internal applications.
- Organize and coordinate student admission interviews, internal graduation celebration, student and faculty travel, and prepare teaching adjuncts (console, Sim Man, Sim Baby operating room adjuncts).
- Manage administrative support functions such as submission of College and University forms, travel petitions, reimbursement requests, meeting minutes, confidential program materials, student registration using Banner, and record‑keeping in Degree Works.
- Collect and post grades for the program at semester end for courses in the Nurse Anesthesia Concentration.
- Retrieve electronic versions of requested journal articles and handle various functions involving the core of the anesthesia program.
- Serve as the program assistant for the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director, greeting visitors, answering calls and e‑mails, and coordinating appointments and office calendar.
- Coordinate meeting schedules and arrangements with University and College administrators, faculty, and outside agencies, and take minutes for NAP meetings.
- Set priorities, recognize important issues, and provide overall administrative support for the program, college, and university.
- Work in a grant‑funded position; employment is contingent on available funding.
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
