Exceptional Children’s Teacher

Term of Employment: 10 months

• Assume primary responsibility for planning and implementing the daily program for children with special needs.
• Work well with children and staff to provide guidance fostering optimum development.
• Provide leadership in a classroom setting.
• Relate, work, and communicate effectively with children and adults.
• Develop and maintain written Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals for students with special needs and ensure their implementation.
• Learn and use the Every Child Accountability & Tracking System (ECATS).

The EC Teacher is responsible for providing children with a safe and healthy learning environment, supporting their physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development, providing positive guidance and discipline, establishing positive relationships with families, and encouraging family involvement. The teacher will ensure a well-run, purposeful program responsive to participant needs and maintain professionalism. Training and assistance will be provided to the Assistant Teacher in developing activity plans, classroom management, and procuring teaching materials.
