Position: Coordinator for Fraternity & Sorority Life

The Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) provides vision and leadership for all aspects of fraternity and sorority life at the University. They develop programs and initiatives and work with various internal and external constituents to enhance the quality of the fraternity and sorority experience.

The Coordinator of FSL oversees long and short-range goal and strategy development, program planning, marketing, expansion and assessment for Greek Councils under their advisement. They are responsible for collecting, tracking, and analyzing data and developing policy recommendations based on this research.

Responsibilities
  • Advise national sororities and fraternities in the areas of risk management, relationships with individual national headquarters, local alumni chapters, and other activities with fraternities and sororities on and off campus, including working with housed chapters.
  • Support and advise one or more of the four Greek councils (Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Panhellenic Association) This position will focus on advising the Interfraternity Council specifically.
  • Advise students on program development, policies and processes, risk management and leadership.
Programming
  • Work with the Director, Associate Director, and Coordinator of Student Engagement to advocate for Greek lettered fraternities and sororities These interactions are meant to develop students socially and academically by instilling in them a level of personal responsibility that will aid them both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Works with the Director, Associate Director, and Coordinator of Student Engagement to provide direction and guidance in program development, delivery, and assessment of departmental programming efforts.
  • Assist with facilitating and instructing faculty and alumni advisors for Greek-Lettered organizations/other groups on advising, mentoring, and student development theories.
  • Develop research data analysis on growing and developing trends in Fraternity and Sorority Life and programmatic schemes.
Administrative & Other Duties
  • Work with the Director, Associate Director, and Coordinator of Student Engagement to advocate for Greek lettered fraternities and sororities These interactions are meant to develop the student socially and academically by instilling in them a level of personal responsibility that will aid them both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • The Coordinator of FSL is on call at various times to respond to emergency situations with fraternities and sororities.
  • Represents The Department of Student Engagement on various university committees.
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education /Experience
  • A Master's degree and 1 year of experience; or Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all fraternity and sorority umbrella organizations and student development theory
Preferred Experience , Skills, Training/Education
  • A minimum of one-year experience in Student Affairs, including work in a Fraternity and Sorority Life Department or national headquarters.
  • Experience advising or volunteering with IFC
  • Ability to apply theory in practice in a university setting
  • Membership in a fraternity or sorority
