Department OverviewThe Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the Brody School of Medicine (BSOM) at East Carolina University (ECU) is dedicated to the discovery, development, and promotion of biomedical knowledge involving cell biology and the anatomical sciences. The department fosters a dynamic learning community and is located in the Brody Medical Sciences Building on the Health Science Campus.
Faculty actively conduct research in cellular metabolism, reproductive biology, muscle biology, neuroscience, and train graduate students. Instruction is provided to medical, nursing, physical therapy, physician assistant students, and the DMD program. ECU is part of the University of North Carolina System.
Job Duties- 50% Laboratory Teaching:
- Develop and deliver lecture and cadaveric laboratory materials for Medical Gross Anatomy and embryology.
- 40% Class Organization:
- Teach and organize classes for health professional programs, primarily human gross anatomy with cadaveric dissection.
- 10% Committee Work:
- Serve on departmental, school, or institutional committees and/or task forces.
The rank and distribution of activities will depend on the applicant’s qualifications and previous teaching experience. The faculty member will have opportunities to participate in collaborative research activities.

Minimum Education / Experience- Ph.D., M.D.,
D.Sc., D.M.D., or D.D.S. in Anatomy or a closely related field from an accredited institution. - Demonstrated experience using virtual anatomy and/or histology platforms for instruction or course development.
- Proven experience performing human cadaveric dissections in an academic or laboratory setting.
- Documented experience teaching human gross anatomy at the undergraduate, graduate, or professional level.
