The Remediation Teacher will provide targeted instructional support to students in grades 6–8 with the goal of strengthening math skills, closing learning gaps, and ensuring mastery of North Carolina Standards. This role includes working with both general education and Exceptional Children (EC) students through strategic small group instruction, data-driven planning, and collaboration with classroom teachers.

Key Responsibilities Targeted Small Group Instruction

• Provide high-quality, research-based small group instruction in 6–8 mathematics.
• Design and implement targeted lessons that address identified skill deficits and support grade-level curriculum.
• Adjust instructional strategies and pacing based on student performance and needs.

Support for EC Students

• Collaborate with EC teachers to support students with IEP goals related to math achievement.
• Provide scaffolded instruction and accommodations to ensure EC students master essential math content.
• Monitor progress toward math-related IEP objectives and share updates with EC staff.

Data Analysis & Instructional Planning

• Analyze a variety of data sources, including formative assessments, benchmark assessments, classroom performance, and teacher observations.
• Work with classroom teachers to form and adjust flexible small groups based on current student data.
• Identify trends, gaps, and instructional needs to inform remediation plans.

Data Collection, Monitoring & Progress Reporting

• Collect, track, and analyze student performance data to monitor mastery of skills and standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and instructional interventions.
• Provide regular reports and updates to teachers, administrators, and EC staff regarding student growth and areas of need.

Collaboration & Professional Support

• Partner with math teachers to align remediation lessons with grade-level content and pacing guides.
• Participate in school-based data meetings, PLCs, and professional development sessions as needed.
• Share instructional strategies and data insights with teachers to support effective math instruction school wide.
