The Office of the Registrar is responsible for the integrity of student records for the university, the planning and execution of registration of students each semester, assignment of classroom space for classes and meetings, issuing grades, issuing transcripts, certification of degree requirements for students, mailing diplomas to graduates, and maintenance of a computerized student database.

- Contact current, previous, and potential students seeking to utilize and maintain their benefits; set up or apply for benefits and assist them with the entire process depending on their benefit type(s).
- Communicate with parents and students regarding benefit information, ensuring FERPA guidelines are followed.
- Coordinate with various departments on campus including student accounting, cashier, financial aid, and individual colleges.
- Provide public contact via walk‑in basis, phone, email, or printed mail correspondence.
- Participate in military orientation sessions in the summer and open house sessions as required.
- Complete annual VA training requirements to be approved as a certifying official for the school.
- Manage and submit GI Bill enrollment certification for Chapters 35, 30 and 1606, monitor schedules, check records, and send notices to students to meet VA requirements and university payment deadlines.
- Ensure student grade point averages are monitored to maintain GI Bill eligibility and notify students if eligibility is lost.
- Meet with students eligible for Veteran Affairs benefits in person, virtually, or via email/phone; assist them in completing required paperwork.
- Maintain knowledge of various GI Bill chapter categories, required documents, steps, and tuition assistance options for active‑duty students.
- Review each student’s schedule (including main campus, dental, and medical students) for compliance with VA requirements; submit enrollment certifications electronically to the Department of Veteran Affairs.
- Notify students whose schedules do not meet VA requirements and assist them with schedule adjustments.
- Provide information on residency regulations and options for students using Chapter 35, 30, and 106 benefits.
- Manage and issue all student advance paychecks sent from the VA to the University.
- Assist with annual VA federal and state audits as needed.
- Submit final grades to various military tuition assistance programs at the end of each semester.
- Evaluate joint service transcripts within ACE accreditation guidelines.
- Assist in registration, transcript inquiries, enrollment verification, grade issues, graduation, and other duties within the Office of the Registrar as needed.
- Represent East Carolina University at VA conferences across the state and the southern United States; occasional overnight travel may be required.
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Experience , Skills, Training/EducationKnowledge of veterans programs and ECU degree programs; experience working with Banner, Degree works and VA Enrollment Manager.
